On Monday (Oct. 7), Static-X confirmed a new release date for their anticipated seventh album Project Regeneration, the previously announced collection to feature the final recordings of late frontman Wayne Static. To accompany the update, the band shared a teaser video for the new song "Hollow" along with their spate of fall 2019 North American tour dates alongside DevilDriver, Dope and more.

Now scheduled for release next spring, Project Regeneration finds original Static-X members Tony Campos (bass), Koichi Fukuda (guitar) and Ken Jay (drums) bolstering a selection of unreleased or otherwise unfinished Static-X tracks, many of which contained vocal performances by Wayne Static that were rescued from obscurity. The album will also include several guest appearances. Watch the teaser video and see the band's upcoming tour dates down toward the bottom of this post.

"It was very surreal," Campos explained of the recording process in a press release. "Our producer was going through all of these old studio tapes, many of which were damaged. He called me up and told me that I needed to get down to the studio right away and listen to what he found. I jumped in my car and raced to the studio, and what he shared fucking blew me away. It was Wayne singing on track after track, but there was little to no music on any of it. Most of the tapes were damaged and Waynes voice was virtually all that remained intact."

For fans who already pre-ordered the album, the bassist added, "The official release date for Project Regeneration is now May 29, 2020. In the meantime, we have decided to go ahead and ship out all of the merchandise and schwag associated with the pre-orders to all the fans who have participated. This way they can have all of their shirts, hoodies, posters, etc., while we all wait a little bit longer for the music to be complete.. As originally planned, the CDs will ship to everyone the week prior to release."

Project Regeneration was first scheduled for release in spring of 2019. Before Wayne Static's unused vocal tracks were discovered, it was set to feature a string of guest vocalists in the place of the singer.

The new video teaser for "Hollow" features current Static-X frontman and masked vocalist Xer0, with whom the band are touring and performing their linchpin Wisconsin Death Trip album. Near the end of the clip, a re-recording of the band's 1999 hit "Push It" with Xer0 on vocals can be heard.
