Release Date for New Jane’s Addiction Album Is Pushed Back

Patience is a virtue, especially for Jane’s Addiction fans. After all, the band has released only four studio albums since its self-titled debut dropped in 1987, and it’s been eight years since the last one, ‘Strays.’

Well, the Jane’s faithful will have to wait a little bit longer than originally planned for the arrival of ‘The Great Escape Artist.’ Originally scheduled for a Sept. 27 release, the new album is now due Oct. 4.

But here’s something that ought to smooth things over for at least one fan of the band. A cool $1,000 prize is up for grabs to the person who wins the ‘Irresistible Force’ remix contest, which ends Aug. 25. In addition to the cash, the grand-prize winner will have his or her remix of the single included on an official Jane’s Addiction digital release by EMI, plus receive a signed CD and poster. (Ten honorable mention winners get autographed CDs and posters.)

Remixes of the single can be uploaded to the Jane’s Addiction contest page; votes can be cast there as well as on the band’s Facebook page.
