We have another Texas pet that needs a forever home. Meet Michael, our Urgent Pet of the Week at All Kind Animal Initiative.

Each week, we feature a different pet in hopes that someone out there is looking for a new furry friend to take home and to love like a member of the family.

Michael is a bit shy at first, but with a little time, he warms up quickly. A mellow fellow at heart, he prefers quiet moments over rowdy ones. Though he can feel anxious at times, he’s quick to relax with a kind voice and a gentle touch.

What Is An "Urgent List" At Pet Adoption Facilities?

Because All Kind Animal receives an influx of animals on a regular basis, many pets are put on this list based on several criteria, including medical conditions, declining in the kennel, or simply space. Sadly, some of these animals will not end up in a loving home.

Again, if you or someone you know is looking for a lovable companion, be sure to stop by All Kind Animal Initiative at 610 South 11th Street in Abilene, or get updates on pet adoption on their Facebook page.

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
