Mike Patton Involved in Accident, Dead Cross Show Canceled [Update]
The Los Angeles show by Dead Cross was canceled last night (Aug. 21) after it was revealed frontman Mike Patton had been involved in some sort of accident. It's unclear what the actual nature of the mishap is or the extent of injuries to are to the singer, who also fronts Faith No More.
"We regret to inform you guys, there's been an accident," Dead Cross guitarist Michael Crain can be seen telling the audience at the El Rey Theatre in fan-filmed footage below. "Mike was in an accident. It's not grave, but he's unable to be here tonight. He's...he's hurt. So I'm sorry. We apologize. We're gonna reschedule. And if you want, tickets will be refunded at points of purchase."
"On behalf of the band, we're really sorry," added a clearly distressed Dave Lombardo, the former Slayer drummer who founded the new hardcore band along with Crain and bassist Justin Pearson, both of the group Retox.
Dead Cross hasn't had the easiest go of it for their current North American tour, which kicked off earlier this month. Just last week (Aug. 15) the band was detained by police in Houston, Texas on the way to a gig in Austin. No details were given on reason for being taken into police custody, although a statement from the group's publicist said they had been "advised by legal counsel not to provide further comment on the incident."
Update: Mike Patton injured himself while skateboarding. Last night's (Aug. 21) Dead Cross show at the El Rey has been rescheduled to tonight (Aug. 22). All tickets purchased for Monday’s performance will be honored at the box office tonight. Refunds are available at point of purchase. As a result of making up last night's show at the El Rey, Dead Cross will not be playing their scheduled gig at the Melvins show at Echoplex tonight. The rest of Dead Cross' tour will go on as planned.
