McDonald’s Monopoly Returns to Texas And I’m Ready For Double Cheeseburgers
I can’t hear “McDonald’s Monopoly” here in Texas without remembering the little thrill of peeling a sticker off my fries or drink. For about three seconds, I was absolutely convinced I was holding a million dollars. Usually, I had a free drink. I’d take it.
And if you’ve seen Super Troopers, you know there’s a worse outcome: Farva peels the contest sticker off his cup and discovers it was covering a hole. His “liter of cola” ends up all over him. I still think about that scene whenever I pull a game piece off a cup.
My Finest Company Potluck Contribution
When I think of Mickey D’s, though, I think of double cheeseburgers. A coworker and I once had a company potluck routine: while everybody else spent hours cooking, we’d roll in with a pile of McDonald’s double cheeseburgers.
Was it lazy? Hell yes. Did people eat them? Every time.
And don’t get me started on the McRib. The moment it returns, somebody sounds the alarm, and the mad dash begins. Food has a funny way of bringing back a whole stretch of your life.
Time to Peel Again

McDonald’s Monopoly returns October 6 in Texas, with peel-off pieces on eligible items, including large fries and drinks. You scan the pieces in the McDonald's app to play or claim prizes. There are food prizes, trips, vehicles, and a shot at $1 million. The game runs through November 1 while pieces last, and you need to register in the app to play.
Will I win a million bucks? Probably not. Will I peel that sticker with unreasonable confidence while eating a double cheeseburger? You bet. I’ll just check the cup for holes first.
