Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Dunks a Pumpkin to Promote Smashing Pumpkins Album [VIDEO]

Sure, his sky hook made him a legend, but Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is now showing off his dunking skills in the name of music.

The basketball icon dunks a pumpkin in a new video promoting the Smashing Pumpkins’ upcoming CD, ‘Oceania.’

After the black-and-white video of Kareem finishes, the shot changes to color where the former Lakers center encourages people to “check out” the band’s new disc.

This isn’t the first time Kareem has hawked a product. In the late ’90s, Abdul-Jabbar, who is Muslim, appeared in a Coors Light commercial, even though drinking alcohol is forbidden in the religion.  Muslim leaders were outraged that he would star in the ad and called for the beer company to stop showing it or donate Kareem’s salary from the commercial to charity.
