Data Shows Problems With Getting Mental Health Care In Texas
The state of Texas has many options for one to feel better if they aren't feeling well. With plenty of specialists for multiple issues a person could encounter, the state has earned recognition for its efforts. But, there is still work needed to be done for a certain type of health care.
What Does The State Of Texas Need To Improve On?
According to CW33, caring for one's mental health in Texas is much more difficult than one would expect. The data collected revealed the following things:
- For every 413 residents in Texas, there's only one mental health provider available to them.
- Of the 254 counties in the state of Texas, 15 lack a mental health expert for citizens to go to.
Safe to say, what was found is slightly concerning to many in the Lone Star State. Especially with more data about residents in Texas themselves and the mental health issues reported.

How Are Citizens In Texas Handling Their Mental Health At The Time Of Writing?
Per CW33, a certain amount of Texas adults, 23% to be exact, divulged they had problems with mental health in the previous year. Even more worrying is the revelation that Texans between the ages 10-24 had suicide as the second most reason for cause of death.
Multiple issues with obtaining mental care have also been revealed from CW33:
- High costs
- Insurance challenges
- Shortage of diverse and bilingual providers
At the of writing, how to combat these problems for the state hasn't been revealed.
