If you’ve ever stumbled out of Pat O’Brien’s with a half-finished Hurricane in hand, humming along to the piano bar, this one’s gonna hurt. After 22 years of pouring strong drinks and making memories just steps from the Alamo, Pat O’Brien's in San Antonio is closing on August 31.

“This wasn’t just a business; however, it was a family,” Neal said. “From the guests that walked through our doors to the staff who held us together, Pat O’s was filled with laughter, late nights, and a true hospitable legacy.”

Straight from the French Quarter

Pat O’Brien’s started in New Orleans back in 1933, where it is credited as the inventor of the Hurricane. It's big, it's fruity, and it’s gonna sneak up on you.

In 2003, San Antonio got its very own version, adding a little Bourbon Street to San Antonio. The courtyard, piano bar, and Cajun food quickly made it the place to be on a Friday night.

22 Years of Stories

The reactions online? Whew. People are in their feelings. One Louisiana native said it was the closest thing she had to home after moving to Texas. Another regular shared how her husband would request Janis Joplin every single time — and the singer always knew exactly who he was.

One Last Round

The last Hurricanes will be poured on August 31. After that, the doors close, and it’s all memories.

One Last Goodbye from Pat O'Brien's Owner

"To our beloved community: thank you for letting us be part of your stories. Pat O’Brien’s San Antonio may be closing its doors, but the memories we’ve made together will live on-forever etched in the heart of downtown. Viva San Antonio!"
