Do you trust AI? In my world, opinions vary. My wife, who works in the medical field, doesn’t trust AI at all. However, my children, some in medical and others in IT, love and rely on AI.

Personally, I see AI as a valuable tool for efficiency, though it sometimes creates extra work by requiring us to verify its information. Despite this, a new study shows that Texans, especially West Texans, spend more time arguing with AI than others. Plus, we MUST understand AI is not perfect, as seen in the video below.

Who are we arguing with? Virtual assistants like Alexa, Siri, Bixby, Google Assistant, Hound, and Chat-GPT. This might be causing health issues like increased blood pressure and anxiety. We West Texans are independent thinkers and straight talkers, unafraid to express ourselves.

A Pew Research Center survey found that 71% of Texans and just over 72% of west Texans have interacted with AI-powered devices in the past year, slightly higher than the national average of 60%. Furthermore, a GameLand.GG study revealed some interesting findings:

The Study Shows:

  • Women tend to snap at their AI virtual assistants more than men, with 62% of women and 53% of men reporting this behavior.
  • Among all virtual assistants, users of Amazon’s Alexa clash the most with their devices.
  • A whopping 77% of Wisconsin residents yell at their virtual assistants, the highest percentage in the country, Texas was 2nd highest at 71%, and Oregon is the calmest, with only 17%.
  • Nearly 1 in 3 Americans (32%) admit to arguing with their AI virtual assistants on a weekly basis.

Nonetheless, AI is here to assist us and keep us on our toes. For example, Alexa just reminded me of the timer I set for a pot of boiling water on the stove. Siri just alerted me to a meeting I have with my boss in 10-minutes, and Google Assistant reminded me to use spell check on this article.

In conclusion, West Texans have a unique relationship with AI. We may argue more with our virtual assistants, but our independent spirit and adaptability shine through as we navigate the challenges and opportunities AI will present.
