What Dads Really Want For Father’s Day May Surprise You
Not too long ago, I wrote about 'What moms really want for Mother's Day.' The overwhelming response seemed simple: many moms just wanted a little peace and quiet, maybe a spa day, some relaxation, and a break from the daily routine.
That got me thinking about Father's Day. What do dads really want?

Sure, some dads might enjoy a new fishing rod, a tool set, a gift card, or tickets to a ballgame. But if you're asking me, the answer is a lot simpler.
Time Together Matters Most
As a father of eight, I've learned that the older you get, the more valuable time becomes.
When the kids are young, the house is busy. There's noise, activity, sports, school events, and family dinners. Sometimes you don't realize how special those moments are until years later.
Now, when Father's Day rolls around, I find myself wanting something money can't buy.
- I want time.
- Time with my wife.
- Time with my children.
- Time with the grandkids.
Not because I need gifts, but because those moments become memories.
A Simple Father's Day Is A Great Father's Day
Honestly, one of my favorite Father's Day ideas is firing up the grill and cooking for the family. Nothing fancy. Just good food, laughter, and stories being shared around the table.
Those are the moments that seem to stick with us the longest.
The funny family stories get told again. Somebody brings up an old memory. Everyone laughs. Before you know it, hours have passed, and nobody wants the day to end.
The Best Gift Doesn't Come In A Box
Don't get me wrong. Any gift is appreciated. But I think most dads would tell you that what they really want is to know they're loved and appreciated.
- A phone call.
- A hug.
- A visit.
- A meal together.
- A few hours spent making new memories.
That's the kind of Fearless Father's Day gift that never wears out, never goes out of style, and never gets returned.
And if you're wondering what this West Texas dad wants for Father's Day?
Give me family, good food, plenty of laughter, and a little time with the people I love most. That's more than enough for me.
