Fearless Fave Five: Historic Homes of Abilene Texas

If there's one thing I've learned living in Abilene, Texas, it's that we have a ton of colorful tales to tell about our delightful Key City.

When families first settled in the town of Abilene back in the mid-1800s, they claimed their piece of land and began building their homes. Once they settled into their homes, they began their businesses as well as building the infrastructure of the city government as we know it today. The story is similar to nearly all the families that settled in Abilene;  they built their homes and businesses, and the rest is history.

The homes that were built back in the day were made to last, as you will see in the photos below. These are Fearless' Fave Five historic homes of Abilene. Only a few of these homes are still in family possession, but they were all built like a Sherman tank, strong enough to withhold a ton of wear and tear.

So let's get started on a little history of the homes we see while driving around Abilene. My favorite of the Fearless' Fave Five historic homes is a popular one because it is at 342 Poplar Street. No, it's not a misspelling. It is on Poplar Street. And is still very beautiful if you ask me.

I will confess, I can see myself sitting on the front porch with a tall glass of sweet tea. I see these homes and wish I could have lived in these homes back in the day. Better yet I would like to live in them today, just to feel the history.
