Texas Easter Candy Favorites Come With a Price Shock
If you’re like me, just hearing the words Easter candy takes you right back to being a kid. Waking up early, digging through that basket, and hoping your favorites were sitting right on top.

For me? It was always that solid chocolate Easter egg, and not the hollow one. If you know, you know.
So I asked the question:
"What’s your favorite Easter candy, then and now?"
And wow… y’all showed up.
Texas Favorites That Never Get Old
From the responses I received, a few clear favorites rose to the top:
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs
- Cadbury Creme Eggs
- Cadbury Mini Eggs
- Chocolate bunnies (solid AND hollow)
- Marshmallow eggs and treats
- Jelly beans and chocolate-filled eggs
What stood out the most?
A lot of us are still loving the same candies we grew up with. And honestly, that might be the best part of Easter.
Our West Texas Listeners Sound Off on Easter Favorites
I didn’t just look at trends, I went straight to our listeners. Here’s what some of you had to say:

One thing is crystal clear… Reese’s Eggs may be the unofficial champion of Texas Easter candy.
Same Candy… Smaller Easter Basket
Now here’s the part that might surprise you.
Even though families are spending more on Easter candy today, we’re actually getting less.
Recent data shows:
- Candy prices have jumped about 67% since 2020
- Spending has only increased by around 15%
- That means you’re getting roughly 40% less candy for the same money
According to an analysis by InvestorsObserver, Easter candy prices have jumped about 67% since 2020, while data from the National Retail Federation shows shoppers have only increased their spending by around 15%.
Why Prices Crept Up Without Us Noticing
Here’s what’s really happening…
Prices didn’t skyrocket overnight. They crept up slowly, year after year. A few cents here. A dollar there. Before you realize it, that $4 bag of candy is now closer to $7 or $8. Some products even shrunk in size without lowering the price.
That’s why it feels like your money just doesn’t go as far anymore, because it doesn’t.
Easter Is Still About the Memories
Even with higher prices, one thing hasn’t changed.
Easter candy is still about:
- Family
- Traditions
- And yes… sneaking a piece before the kids wake up
Whether it’s Reese’s, Cadbury, marshmallow eggs, or that classic chocolate bunny…
Those memories are still priceless.
