While some states boast numerous garage and yard sales, Texas and Oklahoma are known for hosting the longest yard sale in the country, stretching over 400 miles through the Red River Valley area twice a year. These sales range from single-family yard sales to community events, flea markets, and farmers' markets.

Interestingly, many Texas cities rank high on the national list of best garage sale cities, according to LawnLove.com. San Angelo ranked #299, with Abilene at #302. In the top 20, San Antonio is #2, Dallas #3, Houston #5, Fort Worth #6, and Austin #17. Other top 100 Texas cities include Arlington, Plano, Georgetown, New Braunfels, Allen, and McKinney.

Planning a garage or yard sale? Know the laws! In Abilene, it's illegal to post "Garage Sale" signs outside the property hosting the sale. Violators can be fined.
