Abilene’s Boo at the Zoo Adds Halloween Day for 2026
Costumes, candy, and creatures - now that sounds like my kind of family outing! Abilene’s Boo at the Zoo returns this weekend, and this year families have seven days to enjoy the celebration instead of six.

The big addition? Boo at the Zoo will be open on Halloween itself, Saturday, October 31. That gives families another chance to put on their costumes and make some memories right here in Abilene.
My friend Marlen Salazar shared the announcement with me, and I wanted to pass along the fun, and a money-saving tip I’ve used for decades.
When Is Boo at the Zoo in Abilene?
Presented by Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union, Boo at the Zoo takes place October 10-11, October 17-18, October 24-25, and Halloween, October 31, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Head to the Abilene Zoo at 2070 Zoo Lane, wear your favorite costumes, and enjoy trick-or-treating, seasonal activities, fall treats, and an animal parade.
Candy, Costumes, and Creepy Creatures
There’s more to this celebration than filling a candy bag. Attractions include a hay bale maze, corn pits, a petting zoo, animal encounters, folklórico dancers, and a costume contest and dance party.
The Creepy Creatures show returns with fascinating birds, mammals, and insects, giving families a chance to learn what makes these animals unique.
Showtimes are 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m.
My Money-Saving Tip: Check Out a Zoo Membership
I personally have been an Abilene Zoo member for roughly 35 to 40 years, buying an annual membership. Back in the old days, I went in person to purchase it. Nowadays, do like I do, I buy my membership online.
What I love is being able to visit throughout the year with free general admission. Special events may require a separate ticket, but members receive discounted Boo at the Zoo admission.
Before buying your event tickets, explore the zoo’s membership options. If your family enjoys repeat visits, a membership could help you save while giving you more reasons to spend time together.

Visit the official Boo at the Zoo page for tickets and event details.
Gather the kids, grab those costumes, and pick your day. This year, we have seven chances to enjoy one of Abilene’s favorite fall traditions!
