The local and iconic eatery announced on its Facebook page on Monday that its last day to be open will be this Thursday, March 21st to the dismay of many people.

Locals chimed in on the Facebook post and shared their memories and sadness. Some referred to certain items on the menu that they will miss, while others talked about some of the great memories made when visiting.

This just goes to show you how tough the economy is right now and how important it is to shop and dine locally. While chain restaurants continue to flourish and open new restaurants almost daily in Abilene, don't forget about the mom-and-pop stores that depend on local patrons.

Gloria's Grill, thank you for all of the great food you have provided to Abilene over the past 27 1/2 years. You will be greatly missed.
