Move over, Whataburger, because there’s a new contender for Texas’s favorite burger. Five Guys Burgers & Fries is officially bringing its legendary stacks and fry-filled brown bags to Abilene, Texas.

If you’ve ever wandered Las Vegas, wolfed down a Five Guys burger, and whispered, “Dang, that’s good,” then you’re with me. That level of grease-glory is coming soon to our city.

Big Burger News: Five Guys Is Coming to Abilene

According to project filings via TDLR’s TABS system, Five Guys will take over about 3,067 sq ft at 6950 South Clack Street, Suite 1, the old Windmill Animal Hospital spot. Construction kicks off on October 15, 2025, with completion expected by December 5, 2025. The price tag? A cool $1.2 million.

So, if all goes as planned, we’ll be biting into a double-stacked masterpiece sometime in early 2026.

What Makes Five Guys So Dang Good

Five Guys isn’t just another burger joint in Texas; it’s a burger religion. Hand-formed patties, customizable toppings, and fries cooked twice in peanut oil until they reach that crispy-soft sweet spot. You can mix and match so many combos that it’s basically burger Lego.

I’ve had it in Vegas before, and yeah, it’s a very tasty burger, as the great Jules Winnfield from Pulp Fiction would say. Greasy in all the right ways, flavorful, and worth every napkin you’ll destroy.

Abilene’s Growing Southside

The new Clack Street location makes sense because that area is booming with new businesses and retail development. It’s quickly becoming Abilene’s “new food frontier.” And hey, if this means more national chains start noticing us, bring ‘em on.

While I love a good burger, I do want to point out that Abilene seems to lack in the Italian food department. Can we get more pasta in the Key City? I digress.
