Emma Stone is now an Academy Award winner. The actress won her first Oscar for La La Land, beating out Meryl Streep and Isabelle Huppert (pretty much the French Meryl Streep) for Best Actress.

The actress plays Mia in Damien Chazelle’s Los Angeles-set musical, an aspiring actress who meets and dances around the city with Ryan Gosling’s jazz musician. Stone also beat out Natalie Portman for Jackie and Ruth Negga for Loving.

If La La Land, which started the night with a record-tying 14 nominations, goes on to win Best Picture, that’ll make this year the 12th time in Oscar history a film has won the top prize and the Best Actress award. The last time that happened was 12 years ago for Hillary Swank and Million Dollar Baby. The film also won for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Score, Best Sound Editing, and Best Song for “City of Stars.”
