Alright, Abilene, we’re going to make this easy. If you’ve been saying, “I’ll go vote later,” consider this your friendly nudge. Early voting for the March 3 Joint Primary Election runs from February 17 to February 27, 2026, in Taylor County, Texas.

“Well, when and where do I vote?” I’m glad you asked.

Where to Early Vote in Taylor County

Most folks will hit up one of the county’s early voting centers, and yes, they’re open countywide, so you can make it work with your schedule. Polls are open regular business hours (some sites might stay open evenings or weekends; you can check the Taylor County Elections Office for times).

Mail-In Early Voting

Can’t swing by in person? You may qualify for a mail ballot if you are 65 years or older, disabled, traveling, or otherwise eligible; however, written requests must be received by February 20th. (Binge-watching the latest season of Landman is no excuse)

What You’ll Be Voting For in Abilene & Beyond

This is a primary election in Texas, which means you’re helping choose who will carry the Republican or Democratic banner into the November general. On most ballots, you’ll see:

  • Texas offices like the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and others
  • U.S. Senate and U.S. House seats
  • State legislative seats and local judicial spots
  • …plus whatever county or local contests show up on your specific ballot

You can only vote in one party’s primary this round (and if it goes to a runoff, you’ll stick with that same party).

Quick Tips Before You Roll Up

  • Bring an acceptable photo ID, as Texas rules still require it. (No using that McLovin ID card, I know you have)
  • If you’re unsure where your polling site is or what’s on your ballot, the VoteTexas.gov portal has tools to help.
  • Showing up early means shorter lines, and you get it done before the usual Election Day chaos.

The bottom line is to get out there and be heard. After all, can anyone really complain if they are not part of the voting process? Get out and rock the vote, y'all!
