Hall of Fame Dallas Cowboys Lineman Dies Suddenly in Mexico

The Dallas Cowboys and fans are mourning the passing of perhaps the greatest offensive lineman ever to wear the star as Larry Allen has passed away at the age of 52.

According to ESPN, Allen was on vacation in Mexico with his family, when he suddenly passed away. No other details were given.

The Dallas Cowboys released a statement earlier today on their website:

Larry, known for his great athleticism and incredible strength, was one of the most respected, accomplished offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL. His versatility and dependability were also signature parts of his career. Through that, he continued to serve as inspiration for many other players defining what it meant to be a great teammate, competitor and winner.

Allen was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1994 out of Sonoma State where became a dominant force on the offensive line. He would play for the Cowboys from 1994-2005 before playing the last two seasons of his career for the San Franciso 49ers.

He would add 11 Pro Bowl selections to his stellar career and cap it off by being enshrined forever into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.

Though Allen was known for his brute strength, incredible talent, and ability to single-handedly knock a defensive lineman on their rear ends, it was one play in particular that made Allen a legend where he chased down New Orleans Saints linebacker Darion Conner after a tipped Aikman interception in 1994.

RIP, Larry Allen. You will be missed by not only Dallas Cowboys fans and players but those who love the sport of football as well.
