Community Foundation of Abilene Hosts “Abilene Gives” May 5th
The Community Foundation of Abilene joins in on the 'National Day of Giving' to raise donations for the 138 local non-profit organizations it supports. Abilene Gives "usually" begins at midnight on the "day of giving". However due to the pandemic shutdown the giving has already begun.
To donate simply go to the AbileneGives.org website and donate online to the non-profit organization(s) of your choosing. This is a secure website and you can use debit or credit cards and a minimum $10 donation is required. If you'd rather, checks can be dropped off at the Community Foundation's office at 850 North 1st Street.
The above video features many of the non-profit organizations leaders and those they serve singing the Bill Withers song "Lean On Me". Many of these organizations have been hit extremely hard because their local fundraising events have been completely cancelled.
Because the coronavirus pandemic quarantine has cost local non-profits thousands of dollars in lost donations, we ask you to open up your hearts and please give generously.
If certain goals are reached, several community leaders have volunteered to get a pie in the face (see the video below to see what community leaders will get pie).
