These Stunning Photos Capture Blue October’s Unforgettable Night in Abilene
Abilene, Texas, got rocked in the best way possible. Blue October returned to the Key City and completely owned the stage at the beautiful Paramount Theatre, delivering a show that hit all the right notes musically, emotionally, and even comedically. All of which was captured beautifully by photographer Monica Weatherly.
Soudcheck Experience
If you were lucky enough to snag one of those passes, you already know, it was awesome! Not only did we get stripped-down versions of a few songs, including their new tune “Hot Stuff”, but Justin was cracking jokes left and right. Honestly, the guy could moonlight as a stand-up comic. I’d pay just to watch that.

Quickie With Justin
After the Soundcheck Experience, I had a chance to catch up with Blue October's Justin Furstenfeld, whose humor carried over into this short interview.
The Opener
The night kicked off with Icarus Bell, a killer opening act that deserves major props. If you didn’t know, Icarus Bell features Blue October’s bassist Matt Noveskey, and they brought a solid set that got the crowd warmed up. These guys are definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already.
The Main Event
Then came the main event. Justin Furstenfeld and the crew walked on stage and immediately connected with the audience like they were playing in a room full of old friends. The band sounded amazing, playing songs that they haven’t done live in years. It was everything a Blue October fan could hope for and more.
