Supporting Homeless AISD Students: Arrow Ford Coats For Kids Drive Recap
We wrapped up the 11th annual Arrow Ford Coats For Kids Drive and we're happy to report a successful year thanks to your help.
What is Coats For Kids?
Coats For Kids was founded in 2013 by on-air personality Frank Pain, who wanted to help Abilene Independent School District (A.I.S.D.), which experiences an influx of homeless students with little or nothing including coats for winter. The district has close to 1400 students who are classified as homeless annually.
We ask for gently used or new coats as well as monetary donations where all proceeds go to benefit students in need.
How Did We Do In 2024?
According to AISD Liason, Darrin Cox, thanks to you, we were able to collect over 250 coats as well as a very generous donation from La Popular Bakery in Abilene of $750. All cash that was donated was used to purchase new coats that were then donated to AISD.
Darrin joined me in the studio recently to talk about the success, which you can hear in the player below.
Darrin Cox Interview
We can't thank you enough for all of the donations and support for Coats For Kids as we strive to help keep kids warm during the brutal Texas winter months.
Special Thanks
While your donations would not make Coats For Kids possible, there are so many others that we would like to thank for their generous help. Huge thanks to Lynn Ingram at Ingram Cleaners. Lynn and his staff selflessly donate their time each year to ensure all coats donated are clean for the kids.
We also want to thank the following folks for their support and dedication to Coats For Kids:
- Arrow Ford
- SignTex of Abilene
- Neon Moon Hate Company
- Geico Of Abilene
- Pam's Pets
- Wilson Wrecker Service
- La Popular Bakery
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each of you who helped with Coats For Kids in 2024!
