Amorphis Announce 2018 North American Co-Headlining Tour With Dark Tranquility
A healthy dose of melodic death metal is coming to North America this fall as Finland's Amorphis have announced a co-headlining tour with Sweden's Dark Tranquility for an extended run of dates. Joining the two bands will be Portugal Gothic metal act Moonspell and Finnish melodic death metallers Omnium Gatherum. The full itinerary, along with the tour poster, can be viewed below.
"We are extremely excited to start the world tour with new album from North America," Amorphis guitarist Esa Holopainen says. "There’s been lot of requests to hit the states again after our last tour spring 2017. This time we come over with a killer package. Touring with Dark Tranquility, Moonspell and Omnium Gatherum is almost like having a road trip with best mates around. Every band has a strong fanbase so there will be something for everyone."
Amorphis will be touring to support their upcoming new album, set for a spring release, with additional details set to be announced shortly. The yet-to-be-titled LP was produced and mixed once again by Jens Bogren, who has also worked with Opeth, Amon Amarth and Katatonia.
"We just finished new album recordings with our producer Jens Bogren and result is very bombastic!" Holopainen says. "[The] album release is tentatively [scheduled for release] this May and it’s a great privilege to introduce new songs first time for North American audience. Amorphis has long history behind so once again we try to offer something for everyone. Impossible but doable. Shine on, see you soon and support live music. That keeps our engines running!"
Under The Red Cloud, which came out in 2015, was the most recent Amorphis studio album. Last February, the band released the Under The Red Cloud Tour Edition featuring two bonus songs as well as the live tracks from their run of "An Evening With Friends" shows.
