What To Expect At The War Out West Racing Event

UPDATE: WesTX Abilene Raceway has canceled this event due to high chances of rain in our area this Labor Day Weekend. WesTX will announce a new date for War Out West soon and we'll update this article.

Original Article: Buckle up, Abilene, because this weekend, the WesTX Abilene Raceway is about to shake the dirt, rattle your eardrums, and light up the Texas sky with the War Out West! If you like your weekends loud, fast, and a little bit rowdy, then this is where you need to be.

Not Your Grandma’s Sunday Cruise

This isn’t a slow roll down the boulevard or a Sunday cruise. We’re talking side-by-side drag racing under the lights, daily drivers going toe-to-toe, and the always-wild Run What Ya Brung Tailgate showdown. (Yes, that means just about anything with wheels and guts can hit the strip. You might even think about putting nitrous on your lawn mower… though we wouldn’t exactly recommend it.)

Admission is $20 cash or $25 card. Racers get in free.

Friday Night: Engines Fire Up Early

Racers get an early start with gates opening at 9 am, while spectators roll in starting at 4 pm. The action begins with Test N Tune runs from 4–8 pm, which is a chance for drivers to dial it in for $150 per car. At 8:11 pm, it’s the driver’s meeting, then at 8:31 sharp—boom—racing under the lights kicks off.

Saturday Night: Full-Throttle Showdowns

Saturday is when the rubber really meets the road. Gates open at 5 pm, drivers meet at 6:27, and racing fires up at 7:01 pm.
