Abilene is charging into the Star Spangled Texas mural competition, a statewide art showdown sponsored by Texas Monthly Studio and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, that’s celebrating hometown pride through public art. Ten Texas towns are going head-to-head, and only three will walk away with a custom mural to call their own.

What Star Spangled Texas Is All About

This isn’t your average paint-by-numbers gig. It’s a full-on community pride contest. Each of the 10 selected towns is vying for one of three new murals that reflect local spirit and identity, courtesy of Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and Texas Monthly Studio. Voting is wide open and, spoiler alert, you can vote more than once to help your hometown pull ahead.

Why Abilene Should Win

Abilene already rocks hard with culture, history, and West Texas grit, and we already have a ton of awesome murals painted across town by the talented Calina Johnson.
