Abilene City Council Agenda Covers Golf Course Improvements and Infrastructure Projects
Alright, Big Country, the Abilene City Council is back in session, coffee will be flowing, and decisions will be made that affect your daily grind… whether you realize it or not. The City of Abilene just dropped its latest Totally Easy Agenda for the January 22 meeting, and it’s got some interesting stuff in it this time.
Let’s break it down without putting anyone to sleep.

Maxwell Golf Course Could Be Back in Play
Good news for golfers and anyone who enjoys riding around in tiny carts pretending they’re in the Masters, Maxwell Golf Course might be getting a fresh start.
Council members will vote on a new management contract with Lone Star Golf Course Management, which would take over daily operations, upgrades, staffing, and concessions. The city would still own it, but this group would run the show and even share profits.
They’re planning about $300,000 in improvements next year, with a tentative reopening date of February 28. So yes… start stretching that back now.
New Trucks Because City Life Runs on Horsepower
The agenda also includes buying new work trucks and equipment for city departments, like garbage trucks and service vehicles. Not flashy, but very important when you like your trash picked up and your streets not looking like a Mad Max audition.
Airport Road + Tech Upgrades
There’s also a federally funded project for a new access road to Abilene Regional Airport, plus network upgrades for city buildings and recreation centers. Translation: smoother travel and Wi-Fi that doesn’t feel like it’s powered by two hamsters.
When & Where to Watch
The meeting goes down on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall. You can also stream it online or catch it on Cable Channel 2, all while kicked back in your pajamas.
While local government is not always exciting, it sort of affects your life, so you might as well know what they’re up to.
