A day off on tour is something to be savored, just ask the artists that recently wrapped up the 2012 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. While the tour rolled into New England for their Aug. 3 date in Mansfield, Mass., many bands on the tour made the most of the day off before taking in the sights and sounds of Boston.

Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor took in a Red Sox game with his son, and tweeted, “Thanks to Red Sox Nation for the hospitality! My son is a fan for life now!!”

Right across the street at the House of Blues, something special was brewing as well. With Slash in town for a headlining gig, rumor had it that there as a V.I.P. in the building.

Slash tore into his set with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators and before the night was over, a monster collaboration would take place. Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister hopped on stage to join Slash and company for a rocking rendition of ‘Doctor Alibi.’ ‘Doctor Alibi’ is the tune Kilmister recorded with Slash on the ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist’s debut 2010 self-titled release featuring a revolving cast of all-star collaborations.

The next day, Lemmy returned to his day job with Motorhead and rocked the main stage at Mayhem Fest along with Slipknot, Slayer, Asking Alexandria and more.
