Rare U2 Australian 12″ Promo Single Sells for $800
According to the seller, only 500 copies were pressed and numbered. The record was sent to radio stations along with the April 1988 edition of the Australian version of Rolling Stone. In the issue, U2 were named Band of the Year for their global smash album ‘The Joshua Tree,’ which had been released in March 1987. The B-sides are ‘Luminous Times (Hold on to Love),’ ‘Spanish Eyes’ and ‘Silver and Gold.’ All three songs were made available as a bonus CD with the release of the 20th anniversary edition of ‘The Joshua Tree’ in 2007.
The seller describes the record as being in excellent condition. However, the original custom sleeve has signs of wear, while the outer sleeve has no seam splits.
‘The Joshua Tree’ is U2′s biggest selling album and turned the band into the global superstars they still are today. It has been certified Diamond for over 10 million copies sold in America. It spawned two No. 1 singles, ‘With or Without You’ and ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.’
