The Texas Wild Bunch Bonanza BBQ and Auction is Set for Jan. 26th Near Coronado’s Camp
It’s that time of year, when the sweet smell of mesquite wood burning in an ole smoker fills the air. The 11th Annual Wild Bunch Bonanza Cook Off and Auction is scheduled for this Saturday, January 26th starting at 10:00 AM when the gates open. Attendees will get to sample everything from quail, to deer, elk to brisket and smoked wild hog to tasty jalapeno poppers. The Wild Bunch Bonanza is an annual fundraiser for the ECCA Volunteer Fire Department. Last years proceeds got ECCA’s fire department a new brush firefighting truck.
Former ECCA Fire Chief Gary Young says “while the new truck is a badly needed piece of equipment, the department still needs to step it up and get a new 5-ton brush-fire tanker truck.” Every year fans of food and/or the ECCA Volunteer Fire Department gather just outside of Abilene, near Coronado’s Camp for the Wild Bunch Bonanza (WBB). This event is complete with food, like elk, deer, pig, goat, quail, chicken, brisket and what ever else the WBB crew can gather. There is also entertainment from a West Texas favorite, Slim Chance and the Survivors, to auctions both silent and live.
This year they’re including $50 door prizes every 15 minutes from 10:00 AM untill 12:00 PM. Then there’s the Ruger Ranch-30 rifle that is another door prize. The live auction will include a Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. 4X4, handmade quilts, custom made planters and so much more.
