The Killers Sample Lou Reed on New Album

While it may not be a full-fledged partnership like Metallica and Lou Reed‘s ‘Lulu’ record, the Killers will borrow an element from the former Velvet Underground singer. The Las Vegas dance rockers will sample the bass line from Reed’s psychedelic hit ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ on their upcoming album.

The Killers are currently working on ‘Battle Born’ for a fall 2012 release. Singer Brandon Flowers told the Daily Star that “the album will focus on big emotions like longing, fear of loss and love.”

As previously reported, the band members confirmed such song titles as ‘Heart of a Girl,’ ‘Flesh and Bone,’ ‘Carry Me Home,’ and ‘Runaways’ for ‘Battle Born.’ Drummer Ronnie Vanucci referred to the LP as “our difficult fourth record.”

‘Battle Born’ will be the follow-up to the Killers’ 2008 album, ‘Day & Age.’  The group went on hiatus after their massive world tour to support ‘Day & Age’ in 2010. The band members contributed to various projects during that time and returned to the stage in April of 2011 at the first international Lollapalooza festival in Santiago, Chile.

The Killers will continue to travel around the festival circuit, with their next stop in Dover, Del. on July 21 for the Firefly Music Festival. The group will head to Europe starting next month. See their full schedule here.
