Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene Will Host Special Memorial Day Ceremonies for Veterans
Texas State Veterans Cemetery (TSVC) in Abilene will be holding a very special ceremony for all veterans Monday, May 27, Memorial Day beginning at 11:00am. This ceremony will honor all veterans and will feature Retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Robert J. Strader as the events guest speaker. Veterans, their families and friends are all encouraged to attend this special event.
To commemorate the ceremonies, the Abilene Community Band will be on hand to play patriotic music, the Dyess Air Force Base Honor Guard will post colors, and the Big Country Commemorative Air Force Squadron will do fly-overs and perform for those attending the special ceremony at the Veterans Cemetery. Several Big Country heroes that served will be introduced and honored during the ceremony.

All heroes, including World War II veterans who served in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy and the Merchant Marines will be honored. Abilene Mayor Norm Archibald, Taylor County Judge Downing Boles and Jones County Judge Dale Spurgeon will make welcoming statements. Retired Brigadier General Strader is the featured speaker for this years ceremonies.
