Four years after their acrimonious split, the members of Velvet Revolver reunited with lead singer Scott Weiland for a brief live set last night (Jan. 12) — and now a message on the band’s website is causing some to question whether Weiland could be back in the fold on a more permanent basis.

We recently reported that Scott Weiland was going to rejoin Velvet Revolver, but only for a short lived one night stand. Now VR guitarist Dave Kushner has offered up more details on the reunion.

The long awaited return of Velvet Revolver may be approaching come 2012! The band’s drummer, Matt Sorum (also affiliated with Guns N’ Roses and the Cult), recently opened up about the current state of the supergroup that also includes GNR’s Slash and Duff McKagan alongside Dave Kushner formerly of punk band Wasted Youth.

Slash is eyeing an April release for his next solo album, which he recently began recording at Barefoot Recording in Hollywood, Calif., with singer Myles Kennedy and the rest of the band that backed him on tour to promote his 2010 eponymous solo debut album ...

They have an all-star lineup and a pair of top five albums to their credit, so what’s keeping Velvet Revolver from soldiering on without departed vocalist Scott Weiland?
