As Slayer are currently on the road with the 2012 Mayhem Festival, guitarist Kerry King has given fans a bit more info about Slayer’s next album, which could see a release as soon as early 2013. The guitarist, who also provides lyrics for the band, is hoping to get some work done while on tour before hitting the studio once again at the conclusion of the touring Mayhem Fest.
Like many musicians who’ve been rocking with the same group for many years, Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo has another creative outlet to fill the downtime when his main band goes on break. The stickman, who constantly wants to be working, spoke with Loudwire backstage before Slayer’s gig at the recent Mayhem tour kickoff about what he describes as his more alternative project Philm and how balancing the two bands works.
Slayer are back out on tour this summer as part of the Rockstar Mayhem Festival, but the band is down one of their brothers as Jeff Hanneman continues his recover from a debilitating spider bite that’s left him going through extensive rehab.

Slayer have an intense summer lined up co-headlining this summer’s Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem festival, but they’ll be doing it without guitarist Jeff Hanneman. Hanneman will be sitting out the tour to continue his recovery process after complications associated with a debilitating spider bite.
Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo revealed two pieces of important information about his main band while promoting his Philm side project. In a recent interview, the skinsman confirmed that Slayer are wrapping up a two-song EP due later this year. He revealed that vocalist/bassist Tom Araya is laying down his vocal tracks alongside guitarist Kerry King. He also shared that Slayer will never stray from the left-hand metal path, either.
