Texting and Driving Simulator Comes to the TSTC Abilene Campus February 20th

We all know the dangers of texting and driving, yet many still do it. There are those that say "I only do it at stop lights" whatever the excuse is, the fact still remains texting and driving can have deadly results. Research has shown that high school and university students are more inclined to text while driving. That said, to better educate their students, Texas State Technical Institute has secured the Texas Reality Education for Drivers (RED) simulator. Students (or anyone for that matter) that would like to take the RED for a spin can, starting at 10:00 AM Wednesday at TSTC Abilene.

Now that the bad winter weather is upon us, I'll have to admit that I'm a little scared to say the least. With a real cold front on the horizon and icy conditions being threatened, I am having issues with not having the right vehicle. During the last bad ice and snow storm I got stuck, twice. Thanks to Joyce O'Bar and their wrecker service I was rescued. It's been well over a year and I still don't have what my family and I need to get around town on bad weather days. While the rest of the world can take a couple days off, I must still go to the station and keep everyone updated on the 'bad weather.' Now I'm still in the market for a vehicle that can pass the grade, if there is one.

Every town or city has their share of bad drivers. There is no exception here in Abilene as bad intersections, bad roads and bad drivers keep our streets pretty interesting to say the least. Women Drivers Are More Likely Than Men to Cause Traffic Accidents

A new study suggests that women are more likely than men to cause traffic accidents.

Researchers from the University of Michigan analyzed at 6.5 million car crashes. They also calculated, based on the number of miles men and women drive, that if all things were equal, male-to-male crashes would account for 36.2% of accidents, female-to-female would make up 15.8 percent, and male-to-female would make up 48 percent.
