Here’s how the news cycle has gone for gamers who are into the FX biker gang show Sons of Anarchy: There’s gonna be a game based on the show! (Yay!) It’s gonna be a junky advergame that plays on browsers (Boo!) Just kidding, plans for the crappy game have been dumped. Now there’s a real game coming. (Yay!)

GameSpot reports series creator Kurt Sutter said he and FX are committed to adapting Sons of Anarchy to gamedom the right way. That would seem to mean 3D graphics that capture the grit, grime and gruesomeness of the show and voice acting and scripting worthy of the drama.

There’s no timetable for the game’s production or release, but you’ve gotta love the way Sutter is talking:

“[Sons of Anarchy] game update. Had a great meeting with a big distributor yesterday. Myself and everyone at FX and Fox is committed to making this happen. Yes, we definitely wanna do a real game. Console based. Not some slapcrap browser MP thing. It’ll take awhile, but it’s the right way to go.”

It’s nice to hear that the meeting went so well. Usually meetings on the show, which include gun or drug deals or territorial agreements, end up as bloodbaths.

Here’s to a future filled with digital Sons of Anarchy violence. We’re hoping for something that matches Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned.
