‘Star Trek 2′ Villain Is NOT Khan, Says Simon Pegg
When you’re attached to a J.J. Abrams movie, you’re automatically sworn to keep quiet on some of the key plot points and characters in order to lure the fans in. But when you’re dealing with a sequel as monstrous as ‘Star Trek 2,’ fans will begin to make up all sorts of rumors, especially one that actor Simon Pegg is tired of answering.
Once ‘Star Trek 2′ was greenlit, fans went crazy with joy or anger over the possibility of Khan appearing in the sequel. He’s one of the fiercest villains that the crew of the Enterprise has ever encountered, appearing in the original television show and the beloved film ‘Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.’ But ever since production started up on J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Trek’ sequel, fans have been restless, wanting to finally figure out whether or not Benedict Cumberbatch’s villain actually is Khan, something that was seemingly confirmed earlier this year.
Well Simon Pegg, speaking to The Telegraph, not only denies it but has some harsh words for the press for even reporting it:
It’s not Khan. That’s a myth. Everyone’s saying it is, but it’s not. I think people just want to have a scoop. It annoys me — it’s beyond the point to just ferret around for spoilers all the time to try to be the first to break them.
Looks like Simon Pegg has had enough and he’s not going to take it anymore. So who to believe? There have been some pretty solid sources on the Khan scoop but Pegg emphatically denies it’s happening. Is he part of a misinformation campaign? Or has the internet been duped once again?
