New England Metal + Hardcore Festival Day 3 – Review and Exclusive Photos

Killswitch Engage
Liz Ramanand, Loudwire

The final day of the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival on Sunday (April 22) included another day of some heavy music, trembling speakers, extreme mosh pits, sweat soaked fans and much more.

The main set that had everyone buzzing was Killswitch Engage’s return with frontman Jesse Leach and they were not disappointed. Before they exploded onto the stage, the song ‘Reunited’ by Peaches and Herb filled the venue as a montage of pictures of each current Killswitch member appeared on the screens in The Palladium.

The band pounded down on ear drums as they played a wide variety of tunes, such as ‘Numbered Days’, ‘Life To Lifeless’, ‘My Last Serenade’, ‘The End of Heartache’, ‘My Curse’ and ‘Rose of Sharyn’ which was dedicated to former frontman Howard Jones, among others. Leach did justice to the Killswitch songs originally sung by Jones, and even revealed that his favorite Killswitch song, including the ones he’s written, is ‘The Arms of Sorrow.’

Their hour-long performance had security working overtime as bodies of crowd surfers flew left and right. There was not a still soul in the room and things got crazier as the band ended the show with their rendition of Dio’s ‘Holy Diver.’ Killswitch’s set was nothing short of absolutely magical, especially being Leach’s first show with the band in a decade and the first Killswitch Engage show since 2010.

Other main stage acts included New York metallers Every Time I Die, Vanna and Emmure, among numerous others, which shook the foundation of The Palladium pretty damn hard.
