It's no secret Metallica have their collective ears to the ground, staying up to date with what's going on in metal's current landscape. They championed bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Gojira as perhaps the next torchbearers, taking them out on a stadium tour. It's also known that James Hetfield is a fan of Ghost and in the video above, he tackles some of the riffs to "Cirice."

Hunkered down at Metallica's HQ (which they just gave three lucky fans a tour of), Papa Het stands behind the mic of the band's rehearsal space working his way through the opening moments of the Grammy-winning Meliora track. It isn't perfect as his fingers slide around the fretboard in search of the proper notes.

Metallica recently wrapped up a European trek where the "Nightly Doodle" featuring Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo found them playing an assortment of regional covers, even outside metal's box as they tackled ABBA's "Dancing Queen" in Sweden and A-ha's "Take on Me" in Norway. They'll head back out on the road in September, hitting a number of North American cities in the months after with dates stretched out through March of next year. See the full list of stops here.

The band also recently revealed that they intend on venturing back over to Europe as they continue to support 2016's Hardwired... To Self-Destruct with more dates coming between May and September of 2019.

Meanwhile, Ghost's fourth album, Prequelle, is set for release on June 1 and will be the band's first since 2015's Meliora.
