Have you ever actually heard what Pantera sounded like before 'Cowboys From Hell'? Well, wonder no longer. I was messing around on YouTube and found this little gem of the band's first album with Phil Anselmo - 'Power Metal'. If you've never listened to it before, you can listen to the full album.

It's no secret that Pantera is my favorite band of all time. And, while remembering the band's 'Vulgar Display of Power' album on the 22nd anniversary, I came across this audio on YouTube of the full length to 'Power Metal'.

I remember a friend of mine giving me a copy of this album on cassette tape. When I first heard it, I had no idea who it was, but I kinda dug it. It had that high pitched 80's metal feel to it as far as the vocals- kinda like Iron Maiden or something like that (though I want to be clear, it can't compare to Iron Maiden). The funny thing, was that I had already been turned on to Pantera. So, when I found it that it was my favorite band's release back in their glam metal days, I was pretty shocked.

It is evident, that, as a band, these guys could shred. Dime's guitar work obviously stood out, and it did have that thrash feel to it. And, Phil's vocals were pretty dang good as well.

Once 'Cowboys From Hell' came out, anything previous to that was long forgotten. But, thanks to YouTube, the album will live on.

So, what do you think of the album?
