Learn How to Carve the Best Pumpkin for Halloween [VIDEOS]

Well I just checked the calendar and it seems Halloween is 3 weeks away. I have a few decorations out already but I’m a little behind when it comes to the actual pumpkin carving. I have only carved 1 pumpkin in my life so I needed a few tips to know how to make it look good. I actually have a place to display pumpkins this year so I’m gonna give it a go. Here are a few tips I found interesting and informative.
First of all, I would have never thought about carving it from the bottom. Every pumpkin I’ve seen has been opened from the top. But they sit better and it’s easier to clean them out and place them over a candle if you carve from the bottom.
I also learned the best way to choose a pumpkin. You want one that will last for a while, so find one that is young and has a firm stem attached. If it has a little green around the top, even better.
And last, you can use power tools! (provided your boyfriend will allow you to use his) You can also buy the small inexpensive kits at the store, which actually work best for detail.
I’ll give this a try and see what I come up with, hopefully it will be presentable! Here are a couple videos to help walk you through the process as well. Maybe one day we will be as good as the guy in the last video!
