The rise and fall of Lance Armstrong is very well known at this point. He beat cancer, went on win the Tour de France 7 times, only to have it all come crashing down when the pressure of doping allegations became enough for him to admit he did it.

Now, just imagine if he had some sort of "engine" in his bike that whole time. Well, no one has claimed that, but a cyclist did recently get busted for having just that. There have been rumors of cyclists "mechanical doping" but no one has ever been caught before.

Until now, when professional cyclist Femke Van den Driessche had a bike she used during a race in Belgium was detained for an alleged technological fraud violation.

“I understand nothing of it”, says seven-time world champion Marianne Vos at Sporza. “I never thought it would happen around me and I have never seen it. It just seems to me not an issue,” she added.

I haven't been able to find any information on what exactly constitutes the "mechanical doping" but it certainly doesn't sound good. I just imagine someone revving up a Harley as the coast past the finish line. Okay, maybe not that bad, but it still sounds like something similar to me.
