Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe Composing Music for the Richmond Ballet

Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe has been a busy man since being acquitted of manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic last year. Having toured extensively with Lamb of God since then and just releasing the ‘As the Palaces Burn’ documentary about the trial, Blythe is directing his talents toward a more “highbrow” audience, composing a piece of music for the Richmond Ballet.

Randy Blythe recently revealed that he “won’t be thinking of Lamb of God for a good long while.” He elaborated by writing “except for two festival shows in 2014, I will not be thinking about Lamb of God, touring, playing heavy metal, writing new Lamb of God- NONE OF THAT STUFF AT ALL.” Although Blythe is taking a break from Lamb of God, he’s not taking a break from music entirely.

In an interview with Radio.com, Blythe spoke about his endeavor into the world of ballet:

I’m actually doing a piece of music for the Richmond Ballet, their New Works Festival, my buddy is choreographing that, he’s a professional ballet dancer, I’m composing that right now. I’m not a pianist or anything, but I have the ear to write music. I can’t play guitar or whatever, but with the way digital editing is, you can compose little tiny bits at a time. It’s a lot of fun and I think I’m going to get my buddy Alex Skolnick from Testament to lay some atmospheric guitar tracks on that, and we’ll be in the ballet world!

Randy Blythe and Alex Skolnick have worked together in the past, creating music for an iPad project while on tour last year. Additionally, Blythe is working on a memoir about his Czech debacle, which is titled ‘Dark Days.’ According to Amazon, the memoir will be published on Feb. 3, 2015.
