A new study indicates, once again, that more than half of women have faked an orgasm at some point. It also shows that those women are more likely to be doing so to keep their men from cheating.

We know it’s never happened to you (HA!), but it’s not surprising that the new study from the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that 54 percent of women have faked an orgasm. This is clearly supported by the recently published National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior, in which 85% of men said their partner experienced an orgasm during their last encounter, while only 64% percent of women reported having had an orgasm. That’s just math kids.

But are women faking it to keep male partners from cheating? The new study says that, based on findings, it’s most likely they are. No math needed.

Sex educator Dr. Emily Nagoski said, “Maybe women fake orgasm more when they think their partner might cheat, not because orgasm persuades their partner to stay, but because the stress of not trusting their partner acts as a ‘brake’ on their arousal, making orgasm more difficult.” Of course, if a woman is having to manufacture her own pleasure, it means she’s not being fulfilled physically, which also means she’s more likely to stray herself to find the satisfaction she’s lacking.

The numbers aren’t lying, even if women are. Math has done it again!
