A few weeks back, Gene Simmons made a comment about the death of rock. He actually stated rock was 'murdered'. Well, there have been plenty of legends in the rock world that have denounced Simmons' claim. I'm neither a musician or legend, but I'm here to denounce it as well.

I'm sure Simmons' comment had some stupid, twisted validity in his own feeble mind. But, for someone, of his stature (as a pioneer in rock), to make such a comment I have to call BS and do my part in proving the God of Blunder wrong.

I'm not going to write a 10,000 word thesis on disproving Simmons. No, all I need to do is provide you with two bands. Two new (new to universal success) bands that I feel are the future of rock. Two bands that are full of amazing songwriters, performers, human beings and all-around bad asses.

I present to you: Nothing More and Avatar.

With these 2 paving the way, rock is very much alive...and will be many years after Simmons is gone.

Don't believe me? Listen to their music. Watch them on stage. Interact with them online and in person. Talk to their tourmates, colleagues and anyone else that has an understanding of music.

Finally, in no way am I hating on Simmons or KISS. Heck, I'm a HUGE fan of KISS. I just feel obligated to stand up to this asinine comment, for the millions and millions of rock fans that may actually take his (Simmons) words to heart, and tell them he's wrong.

Rock is alive and well thanks to Nothing More, Avatar and the many other bands out there busting their collective asses on a daily basis to prove it.
