I guess enough time has passed that some of us can now smile when we think of guitar legend Dimebag Darrell Abbott. It's been many years that even recognizing his birthday was really sad.

Dimebag would have been 50 today, and that's not that old. I imagine he'd still be delivering some blistering music just to prove he could. It was funny, I know the record company always begged the band for something a little more "radio-friendly" and every single time they'd say "okay", then deliver an album even more extreme than the last one.

I really wanted to hear more collaborations and more opportunities for Dime to show other sides of his playing. I'm a real fan of "Suicide Note Pt 1", "Planet Caravan" and the Damageplan song "Soul Bleed".  Sure Dimebag cranked up to 11 is awesome, but it was great to hear another side of dime.

Dime will always be missed, but I've reached a point that when I think of him, I imaging him with a guitar neck in one hand and a Black Tooth Grin in the other. That's a good image and a great memory.
