Most of you by now have probably seen the viral video of Misfits / Danzig vocalist Glenn Danzig getting punched out by North Side Kings singer Danny Marianinho. The punch seen round-the-world was filmed in 2004, but Danzig himself recently took a rare moment to discuss what exactly happened on that night.

The video begins with Danzig and Marianinho already in the middle of a verbal confrontation. After the exchange got a bit heated, Danzig can be seen aggressively pushing Marianinho back while yelling, “F— you, motherf—er!” The North Side Kings vocalist retaliated with a hard right to Danzig, knocking the Misfits icon down and reportedly, out cold.

In an interview with L.A. Weekly, Danzig shared his own side of the story regarding the incident. “That was him trying to get me on camera punching him so he could sue me or some s–t,” says Danzig. “I forget what it was. When everyone was breaking it up, he coldcocked me. What are you going to do?”

The punk rock legend also claims that it was the intention of Marianinho and his friends to get a violent confrontation with Danzig on camera. “Those were his guys with the camera,” explains Danzig. “No one knows that. Well, back then they did. It was a setup.” When asked if the punch hurt, Danzig reportedly laughed and simply said, “No.”
