The 36th annual Cactus Lions Club and John Massey Memorial Spaghetti Supper will take place at the Abilene High School cafeteria. The Lions Club brags that they have a "famous secret spaghetti sauce," Pete Beretta says that the real secret is in how he infuses the garlic and butter onto the bread, being that he is in charge of and CEO of the "bread buttering and browning."

This is the Cactus Lions Club's biggest fundraiser of the year and all the monies raised will benefit "Handicapped Children" in Abilene and through West Texas and numerous children's charities. The Lions Club members say their sauce take time to prepare and is a secret recipe that is highly protected and only two members of the club ever know the recipe and any given time. What I know from past experience is that the spaghetti is good and it's all you can eat, so come hungry. Remember to leave room for desert, as many of the club members wives prepare and sell 'homemade' deserts like; pies, cakes and cookies.
