When Does Daylight Saving Time End and We ‘Fall Back’ an Hour in Texas?
Many times, Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time confuse people as many of us forget when we go forward an hour and when we go back an hour. Best rule of thumb is to remember the old saying "spring forward, fall back". Annually, Daylight Saving Time begins in the Spring and ends in the Fall.
So, when do we 'fall back' an hour to signal the end of Daylight Saving Time for 2021?
For most Americans, Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 7th, at 2 a.m. as we adjust our clocks back 1 hour to Standard Time. States like Arizona and Hawaii don't have to adjust their clocks each year since the federal government doesn't require states and territories to observe Daylight Saving Time.
So, with all that being said, don't forget to set your alarm clocks, microwaves, ovens, watches, and some phones, back an hour before you go to sleep Saturday night, November 6th. The reason I say 'some phones' is because many devices automatically adjust based on network settings.
However, you can do what I do and not change the clocks at all. It's like playing Russian roulette, but with your job. You might also take this time to ask your kids how to change the time settings on various digital devices in your home. That way, you won't miss a step when the day actually arrives.
This time of year is also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke alarm as heaters will soon kick on and the potential for fire increases.
Enjoy that extra hour of sleep.
Oh, and for the record, it's called Daylight Saving, not Daylight Savings.
