Following their competitor's lead, Walmart will now also be having a car seat recycling event. Since 2016, Target has been having a car seat trade-in event to help people upgrade their child's car seat and help recycle the plastic from the old car seats. Now that Target's car seat recycling event has ended for the year, Walmart is launching its own.

From September 16th through September 30th, Walmart is hosting its first car seat trade-in event in 4,000 stores. Customers who bring in their old car seats can get a $30 gift card towards any item in the store or on the Walmart website. Booster seats are not eligible for the event and there is a limit of 2 gift cards per household.

Walmart has teamed up with TerraCycle to have the car seats recycled and "expect to divert the plastic equivalent of approximately 35 million water bottles from landfills," according to USA Today. Find out more information about Walmart's car seat trade-in event at the Walmart website.
