Hats off to The Heaf! Trivium's Matt Heafy has uploaded an acoustic version of Slipknot's new song, "Solway Firth," just over 24 hours after the single was released.

After first listening to "Solway Firth," it's difficult to imagine how the hyper-aggressive track would sound stripped down considering the density of the original with its layered percussion and Sid Wilson's DJ tricks.

Heafy, a master in the transformative arts as documented through other covers on his YouTube channel, works his usual magic, coming away with what sounds like a murder ballad. The haunting intro didn't need to be reconfigured much and the violent riffing that dominates the song works surprisingly well played straight up on the acoustic, milking those sinister overtones.

Watch the cover in the video below.

If you still need your Slipknot x Heafy fix, you don't have to go too far back into the archives since he dialed up an acoustic rendition of Slipknot's "Unsainted" right after it was released.

The Trivium frontman's covers haven't been limited to just his YouTube channel, however. Earlier this year, the band dished out studio takes on Type O Negative's "I Don't Wanna Be Me" and Dead Kennedys' "Kill the Poor" from their The Sin and The Sentence sessions.
